The song "Timothy" was released in 1971 by the American rock band, The Buoys. The song tells the story of three miners who become trapped in a collapsed mine, and ultimately resort to cannibalism to survive. The graphic subject matter caused controversy and even led to the song being banned from some radio stations. Despite its controversial nature, "Timothy" became a hit, reaching #17 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song was written by Rupert Holmes and became his first major success as a songwriter.
